Married on June 5th, 1954. Betty was 20 and John was 23.
Betty's one prayer to God was that she wouldn't marry a pastor. She married John, who was a pastor for a few years at the time of their marriage. The second prayer she had was that she didn't want to leave Washington and leave her family. Betty and John moved to Hawaii 4 years later, at the time Hawaii was not a state.
