Arts Academy

Science is an art form! We will be integrating

art forms into our Science curriculum and we will

be integrating our Science into your arts classes.

Who is this teacher as a person?

Chelsea is 22 years old

and now lives in Flagstaff,

Arizona. She is

a medical assistant.

Brady is 20 years old and lives in Glendale in

his own apartment. He is

an air conditioning tech.

Ashlie is 18 and is now a

student at Glendale

Community College. She wants

to be a doctor.

Ryley is my baby girl. She is

2 years old

and is very

precocious.

I have been teaching for over 23 years.

I have taught 1st grade,

3rd grade, 4th grade,

5th grade, 6th grade and

junior high.

This is my first year in the Dysart district and

my first year at Desert Moon.

I have been teaching 7th and 8th grade

Science for the last 6 years.

I am not and will not be your "friend".

I will, however, care about you.

I will be there when you need me. I will listen to

you and respect you.

I will be your at school "mom".

What are the rules in this classroom?

Come in the classroom quietly and quickly,

get your Science journal and get to work

on your bell work.

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Treat each person in this class with respect and

dignity…. we all learn differently.

Follow classroom procedures.

More Rules....

Keep the room clean….clean up after yourself and your group.

No candy, gum or snacks (except for certain celebrations)

Bring paper and pencils to school every day.

No whining or complaining….. Remember it can always be worse.

Talk when it is time to talk and listen when it is time to listen.

What will I be doing this year?

8th graders learn about Chemistry,

Physics, Genetics and Ecosystems.

We will be doing labs, inquiry lessons, deductive reasoning activities and projects. There will also be quizzes and tests over notes we take in class. We spend a lot of time observing, questioning and communicating with each other. Science is fun!

How will I be graded?

The grading scale is as

follows:

90% - 100% = A

80% - 89% = B

70% - 79% = C

60% - 69% = D

59% & less = F

Classwork, homework, and

notes are 40% of your grade.

Tests, Labs and projects

are 60% of your grade.
