Children and teens are oblivious to the importance of not sharing personal information online, and even if they do know, there are many privacy issues that can still occur.
41% of sexual predators are between 26 and
39 years old. The risk of someone you meet
online being an internet predator, is high.
Children and teens are easily
distracted and can overuse online
social networks.
Although children often get taught about cyber bullying,
they usually ignore the lecture. They think that no one
would do that do them, but they are wrong.
"Before the internet, Toby Studabaker
might have been slinking through a mall.
He might have sat in his car outside school.
He might have lurked on neighborhood streets.
But he was not in any of these places in 2003.
He was on a Web site for kids called NeoPets.com.
There he met a girl in England. She was 11 years old.
Studabaker lived in Michigan. He made friends with
the girl online. It was not a healthy friendship.
Studabaker was 32 years old and an Internet Predator."
