After Eruption
The community witnessed Mt st helens for the first time and they were stricken with ash covering the area and the world they have had more scientist devoted into telling when the next eruption will happen.
After the eruptions ash was scattered all across the world and left the landscape around the mountain destroyed and covered in debris and dead nature. seismic activity quieted but a lava dome formed in the crater where the mountain blew the top off and scientist believe it is building pressure and we will have another eruption. They have noticed significant changes to this lava dome over the years showing that is building jurastically.

It formed within the past 40,000 years making it young in geologly, IT formed its cone shape over the past 2,200 years ago.There has been many eruptions before the 1980 one.Right before the eruption there were many earthquakes and shifts in seiesmic acticity.
It has changed the mountain area forever and has flooded spirt lake with dead trees and animals. IT was killed alot of trees acres upon acres of trees. It created a dead forest it has also made a new deserted like area on the slope of the mountains.
During Eruption
On May 18, 1980 mt st helens erupted seismic activity rose drastically causing a landslide then releasing all the pressure it shot out ash and dust and rock into the air .It blew the entire top off the mountain and has changed its landscape forever.
