The climate here in North Carolina is very pleasant! We are in the warmer part of the temperate zone which means we have a moderate temperature, and cold periods are shorter.(7)

Political Environment

While we used to be one large colony with South Carolina things soon changed once our Lord Proprietors realized Carolina was to large to be run under one governor. So in 1712 we are official separated from South Carolina creating what you will today. (11)

The Coastal Plain

One of the most famous tales about the Lost Colony or the Roanoke Colony. It is a tale about the colony and the fate of poor Virginia Dare the first English baby to be born on the colonial soil. Here is where you go to read it: http://www.northcarolinaghosts.com/coast/virginia-dare-white-doe.php (10)

The Piedmont Plateau

This tale is called "The Ghost Of Seven Hearths" it is a brief tale about this house (in picture) and it's ghost. Here is where you go to read it: http://www.northcarolinaghosts.com/piedmont/sevenhearths.php (4)

Welcome To The Colony Of North Carolina!

The Mountains

This Tale is named "The Demon Dog Of Valle Crucis" It is about the most terrifying apparition to ever take up residence in a small and quite place up in the mountains. Here is where you can read it: http://www.northcarolinaghosts.com/mountains/demon-dog-valle-crucis.php (3)

Soon though the King himself gets most of the Lord Proprietors to sell their rights to North Carolina bring us under Royal Rule. Although after all a such long time the assembly had gained a lot of power making them untrustworthy so stick to the local government and the officials you know you can trust!

If you are good at providing a necessary service(tailoring, blacksmiths, etc.) I will suggest that you head for an isolated town right now! This is because that people like you become very prosperous in towns and settlements like that. We have a mercantilism economy that is based off what we can grow in our wondrous colony. Crops that we can eat and the crops that are grown only to sell like tobacco. Tobacco is becoming a very popular crop to be growing right now!(7) Although it looks like the headright system will no longer support our labor needs so we will need to import some more slaves. So if your farmer have no worries and come join us in North Carolina! After all 95% are farming! Don't worry if farming isn't your thing though you can easily become a merchant, lawyer, doctor, public official, teacher, or many other things! (6 and 1)

Where there is something for everyone!

Ethnic Groups

So as you can see we welcome many into the borders of our colony so there is no need to be shy. There is bound to be a part of your culture here in North Carolina after all the culture is shaped by the people. (9, 8, 5, and 2)

Here are the percentages of the ethnic groups in our beautiful colony:

English 48.7 %

African 20.0 %

Scot-Irish 7.8 %

German 6.9 %

Scottish 6.6 %

Dutch 2.7 %

French 1.4 %

Swedish 0.6 %

Other 5.3 %

The Coastal Plain

The eastern part of North Carolina and the first part to be colonized despite the slight difficulty getting there because of our wonderful sandy islands called the Outer Banks. Don't worry though once you get here there is fertile and easy to work soil to be had for all! (7)

Religions

The Piedmont Plateau

The beautiful area of the Piedmont is the great area that stretches right in the middle of our great colony. The rolling hills of this area are made of red clay which is only a little less fertile and a little harder work but, don't worry with a little hard work you will be set up right away! (7)

Since we have been religiously tolerant since 1672 many religions have come here to get comfortable so you will not have to fear and be able to worship as you please but this is a list of the main religions in North Carolina right now.(12, and 9)

  • Presbyterians
  • Baptists
  • Quakers
  • Catholics and Jews

The Mountains

The breathtaking scenery of the Mountains is what will await you in the western part of North Carolina. Most of these mountains you see are apart of the Appalachian Mountain system. Covered in dense forests the Mountains are still a great place to be despite the lack of farmland! (7)

It is because of this pleasant climate and combined with the good quality of the soil that one person said that North Carolina was meant by nature to be a agricultural place! Here is a break down of how our year usually goes!

  • May- Most of the rain happens here, considered the harvest time with warm days and cool nights into November
  • December-February- Cold and damp months(7)

Water gets pretty evenly spread out as rain or snow over here in North Carolina. The largest amount usually falling in July and August while the least usually falls in October and November. Also since our fair colony is the way it is you can move back and forth from east to west to predict your snow levels, Northern Coastal can get four inches a year while in the valleys there is eight inches, and if you really love the snow you can live close to the peaks of the Mountains which get thirty inches or more a year. No matter where you are though all of this weather keeps the ground nice and damp so farmers won't have to worry too much. (7)
