Ratscalibur is a book you want to stay up late to read because it is so good. The Harry Potter books are my favorite and this reminds me of them because good vanquishes evil and in both kids unexpectedly become heros and save the day.

I recommend this book because of the adventure . It draws you in the more you read. For example when Joey and friends went to Squirrelin's tree and found out he was evil, it was a great surprise! The battle was surprising, like when Joey cut Sir Aramis with his spork and then Sir Aramis knocked the spork away. I thought Sir Aramis was going to win and I was sad until Joey used Sir Parsifur's paperclip sword to defeat Sir Aramis.

Before you know it, you care about what happens to the characters. I feel like I know and have met them. You get to know not just what they look like, but personalities. You even get to learn that Joey likes the smell of cockroaches when he is a rat. He thinks they smell like perfume! You don't want Joey and his friends to lose the great battle with the Black Claws because you care about the good guys and want them to win!

CONFLICT AND RESOLUTION

Joey pulls Ratscalibur from the scone and now has to fufill the prophecy of saving Ravalon. On his way to find Squirrelin he is attacked by rat berzerkers in the sewers. He seeks Squirrelin to be changed back into a human. Unfortunately, he realizes Squirrelin is evil and he kills him. Joey then return to save Ravalon and the princess from Squirelin's partner, Sir Aramis.

Back in Ravalon, Joey and his friends fight to save the kingdom. They are aided and saved by the new Gondorff the Red, formerly Gonforff the Grey. Together they save the day!

PLOT SUMMARY CONT'

Gondorff bites Joey and turns him into a rat. Once he has become a rat Gondorff asks Joey to return to Ravalon and tell King Uther that his misson has failed.

Joey goes to Ravalon to deliver the message to King Uther, but along the way he is amazed by his new rat senses and ability. He also notices everyone is armed, so he spys a spork in a scone and decides it would be better than nothing. When he is able to free the spork from the scone everyone is amazed. They believe he will fullfill the prophecy.

PLOT SUMMARY

Joey moved to the city and lives in an apartment with his mom. His uncle Patrick bought him a rat to help him adjust. Joey's mother is not happy about Uncle Patricks gift.

At night Joey can not sleep because of all the city noises. At first, he thought the small voice he heard was outside among those noises. He was mistaken, the voice belonged to his pet rat, Gondorff. Gondroff was a powerful ragician, rat magician, on a mission to save his kingdom.

The Spork in the Scone - Who ever pulled the spork from the scone was desined to save the Kingdom and fullfill the prophocy.

The Big City - Where Joey moves and home of the hidden kingdom Ravalon.

Ravalon - Part of the Low Realm where the rats live along side the Squirls.

Sir Arimas:

He wants to marry Princess Yislene to become king. Secretly he is plotting with Squirrelin to take over the kingdom. He is EVIL!

Brutilda:

She is a guinea pig, the Princess' closest friend and guardian.

Gondorff the Gray:

Most powerful ragician, rat magician, in the world. Uses his bite to turn Joey into a rat hero. He is fatally injured by Salamans Black Claws

Joey's uncle, who smelled of alcohol and sleeps on the couch. He also turns into a rat to help save the day.

An "old friend" of King Uther. Secretly Squirrelin, the squirrel magician, is EVIL!

One of the king's and the Low realms bravest knights. He is a white knight that rides a cat named Chequers. He defends the lower relam and helps defeat Squirlin and Sir Arimas.

Joey

Joey is an 11 year old boy who moved to the city becasue his mom got a better job. He is about to be a seventh grader, but he has no frineds. His uncle gives him a rat to keep him company. Little did he know he would become a rat hero himself!
