All three religions stem from the same discovery of God (Abraham). A discovery can lead to inventions.
If math was discovered, where exactly do you look to find it? But if math was invented, why can't I say 1+1=3? Mathematics is a language used by humans to describe universal truths. The universe contains mathematics and rules but humans invent ways to connect those rules.
Humans invented mathematics to describe the world. Mathematics is just a set of rules we made up in the same way there are rules for basketball, football or soccer. If you examine what mathematics means you will find a model, and that model is unquestionably a human invention. One may argue “2 apples + 3 apples = 5 apples” but what does “2 apples” really mean? Mathematical statements do not exist in the world; their values are based on rules that humans created. Jeff Dekofsky of TED-Ed states, “Mathematics is an invented logic exercise which has no existence outside mankind’s conscious thought; a language of abstract relationships based on patterns discerned by brains, built to use those patterns to invent useful but artificial order from chaos.” German mathematician Leopold Kronecker said, “God created the natural numbers, all else is the work of man.”
In conclusion, the importance of mathematics is that it produces results to help us understand the world.
The importance of religion is that we can express our faith in whichever way we choose.
Martin Luther thought that people should only have faith from Scripture, and are saved by faith alone.
By combining those beliefs, he invented the Protestant religion.
In saying religion is invented, I am not saying the things a religion believes are made up, but I am saying the combinations of what they believe in are chosen, therefore inventing a religion.
faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
Religion is a cultural system of behaviors and practices, world views, sacred texts, holy places, ethics, and societal organization that relate humanity to an order of existence.
If math was discovered, where exactly do you look to find it? But if math was invented, why can't I say 1+1=3?
The universe is made up of various mathematical equations. If the universe disappeared, mathematics would still exist. It is up to us to discover the mathematic sequences that make up our world. We apply these sequences to everything we know. It is arguable that everything is simply a mathematical sequence, from the diameter of a circle over its circumference, to the molecular make-up of the human body. Mathematics existed before humanity and will continue to exist when humans are gone.
