American holidays

Holidays, whether they be public or national, in America exist every day. On January 21, for example, it is National Squirrel Day, National Hugging Day, and National Granola Bar Day. June 29 is National Waffle Iron Day, National Bomb Pop Day, and National Almond Buttercrunch Day. For every date, there is a holiday, whether there are many or just one. There are also well-known national holidays such as Memorial Day on May 29, or Valenitine's Day on Febuary 14, and PI Day on March 14.

Japanese Holidays

American Schools

In Japan, there are annual public holidays such as Valentine's Day on February 14, where girls give chocolates to guys, and March 14, where guys give chocolates or cakes to girls, also known as White Day. The Coming of Age Day for those turning 20-years-old on the second Monday of January and is a national holiday. Rather than being a national holiday, Tanabata is a festival celebrating the coming together of two stars that are usually separated by the Milky Way on the July 7th. It is also known as the "Star Festival."

Japanese Schools

American schools are separated into three different schools: Elementary, Middle, and High school. Elementary schools are from to 5th grade. Middle School is from 6th grade to 8th grade. High school is from 9th grade to 12th grade. In the schools I have been to, school starts in August. Students are also to transition from class to class if need be. Lunch is eaten in the cafeteria and students wear whatever they wish in some schools. Schools in America are only one floor, and some classrooms have no windows or have their windows covered with class work or blinds.

American Food

Like America, Japanese schools are spit into three different schools: elementary, junior high, and senior high. 1st through 6th grades are spent in elementary school, 7th through 9th grade years are in junior high school, and 10 th to 12th grade years are in senior high school. Unlike America, schooling begins in April and ends in March the following year, which is somehow more convenient to Japan. Students stay in one classroom all day while the teachers transition, although, students may leave and return to the class during transition period. Lunch is eaten in their classroom and students are to wear the uniform given to them before the school year starts. Schools in Japan can be up to three floors an most classrooms have windows, but they are covered with nothing or a light colored curtain. The windows can be opened as well.

American food consist of hamburgers, french fries, sandwiches, steak, hotdogs, buffalo wings, and fast food. For breakfast, Americans have pankakes, sausage, and eggs with orange juice. For dessert, Americans have ice cream or pie. As for snacks, Americans may have cookies or popcorn.
