The people commited many sins, especially the biggest one of them all. Shirk or the association of partners with Allah. The people worshiped idols made of wood and stone instead of the one true God, Allah Almighty. Five of the idols were really popular. Their names were Wadd, Suwa, Yauq, Yaghuth and Nasr. Wadd was built in the shape of man. The idol represented gold and manly power. Suwa was in the shape of a women and represented female beauty. Yaghuth was said to rescue people from hardships. Yauq was in the shape of a horse and represented speed. He was said to come quickly to prevent enemies from doing harm. Finally the last idol Nasr was in the shape of an eagle to represent a long life.

Many years after the time of Hazrat Adam...
When he finished, Hazrat Nuh placed lots of food, clothing and supplies on the ark along with the believers and the animals, two of each kind. They all stayed on the ark and waited while the disbelievers watched and laughed at them. One day, the sky went very dark, and it started to rain lightly. Then the rain became heavier and heavier. Soon there was water every where. The bad people were not laughing anymore.

when people began ignoring the teachings of God once again, a new prophet was born. His name was Hazrat Nuh or Noah. Some people listened and obeyed Allah. But many of them remained unfaithful and did as they pleased. This made God unhappy.

Hazrat Nuh
The people were now frightened. There was no shelter from the water. The rain was getting heavier and heavier until it felt like rocks instead of water. The only place that was dry was the ark. All of the disbelievers perished and died in the storm while the people on the ark weren't even a little bit wet.
When Allah picked Hazrat Nuh, a good man, to tell the people that what they were doing is wrong, they didn't believe him. They carried on doing bad things. Hazrat Nuh tried to convince them. "Who made the stars? Who created the moon and the sun?" He asked them. But they still wouldn't believe.God decided that the bad people should be punished. He told Hazrat Nuh to build an ark near his house. Obeying God, Nuh started building the ark using only the finest wood. All of the disbelievers laughed and threw garbage at him as they passed, but the Prophet payed no notice to them, because Allah had told him what to do and he had to obey.
