Naglieri Non-Verbal Ability Test (NNAT)

What is the NNAT??

The test uses matrices to measure the problem-solving and nonverbal reasoning skills of students in kindergarten though high school.

The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) is a screening test used most often to determine if a child is a gifted learner.

Several school systems use the test as one of its benchmarks for admission into a gifted and talented school or resource program.

Serial Reasoning

*requires children to identify the shape that comes next in a pattern*

The test

consists of diagrams, shapes and patterns and is designed so that minorities or children with disabilities such as hearing and impaired vision will not be at a disadvantage.

What happens if the student

passes the NNA?

The NNAT measures reasoning using 4 different item types:

If the child passes the NNAT, the child may be placed in the appropriate program for advanced learners or gifted and talented program
