+ Approved to treat major depressive disorder in 1987 by the FDA

+ Third-most prescribed antidepressant in the US

+ Used to treat major depressive disorder, OCD, PTSD, bulemia nervosa, panic disorder, as well as obesity, alcohol dependence, and binge eating disorder

+ Approved in 1991 to treat major depressive disorder by FDA

+ Second-most prescribed antidepressant in US

+ Works better than Prozac to treat some subtypes of depression

3) Celexa

Celexa:

+ Generic name is citalopram

+ Approved to treat major depressive disorder in 1998 by FDA

+ Most prescribed antidepressant in US

+ Ranks 5th in the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence Top 10 Antidepressants for Effectiveness and 4th for cost-effectiveness
