To Kill a Mockingbird Relationships between characters

Atticus Finch

Jem and Scouts relationship with Arthur(Boo) Radley

Atticus is the father of Scout and Jem. Atticus is a lawyer in the Maycomb County. He raises his kids in the way every kid should be raised, fair. His kids reflect Atticus's qualities, for example, his kids don't feel superior to the colored people, they treat everyone equal.

Jem

Jem thinks that Boo radley is a creep because he hasn't seen him ever leave his house and also there's so many rumors about Boo that influence the way Jem thinks about him. Jem really never gets to know Boo in the way that Scout does at the end of the book.

Aunt Alexandra

Jem Finch

Alexandra is the aunt of the kids and sister of Atticus and Jack. She doesn't quite have a good relationship with Scout because she hasn't had a daughter.

Jem is the son of Atticus Finch. He is a well raised boy because he reflects Atticus in many aspects. Jem is brave like his father, Atticus takes on the trial of a colored person even though people are hating on him. Jem represents his bravery by touching the Radley house.

Dill Harris

Arthur (Boo)

Atticus is a very valuable character in this story because without him his kids would be like the rest in Maycomb County, Racist. Aunt Alexandra is the person in this book that teaches Scout how to try to be more like a girl and less like a boy. Uncle Jack is the somewhat fair person in this Finch family. Uncle Jack punished Scout for fighting with Francis without hearing her side of the story.

Dill Harris shares the same idea

as Jem. Dill dares Jem to touch

the Radley Place because to them

it's more of a monster house then

a normal home

Dill is a friend of both Scout and Jem. He spends his summer With Jem and Scout in Maycomb. Scout and Dill are close friends because of their age. Dill asks her to marry him as soon as they're old enough. Jem and Dill are also good friends; Jem teaches Dill how to swim at the end of the summer.

Boo doesn't hate the Jem or Scout for thinking that he's a scary person. He's heard it all before. The moment Miss Maudie's house catches on fire Boo silently and unknowingly puts a blanket on Scout. Another great thing Boo does is save Jem and ACouts life from Mr. Ewell who was trying to kill them. Although Jem still received a broken hand Arthur saved Jem from being killed. This Shows that Arthur isn't a bad person whatsoever.

Scout

Uncle Jack

Scout Finch

Scout only thinks Arthur as creepy because of Jem's beliefs in him. Scout after witnessing Boo carry Jem to her house after Mr. Ewells attempt to kill them, knows for sure that Arthur is a kind and caring person. Scout is surprised that Boo, the least common person to come to their aid, saved Jem and her. Scout wishes that Jem would've met Boo and experience the same feeling for him that she had.

Uncle Jack is the brother of Atticus Finch. He is also the Uncle of Scout and Jem. He is a doctor and like Atticus, he was homeschooled

Scout is the protagonist in the story. The entire story is told through her eyes. Scout looks up to his dad very much and enjoys the time they get to spend together.

Mr. Ewell and Mayella Ewell Relationship with

Tom Robinson

Mr. Ewell

Mayella Ewell

Mr. Ewell is the poor white man in Maycomb who has 9 kids without a mother. The Ewells live by the city dump. Another thing, Mr. Ewell is an alcoholic and would rather spend his money on alcohol than his own children. Lastly he is a lazy bum, he finally gets a job but is quickly fired from it because of his laziness.

Mayella is the oldest daughter of Mr. Ewell. She is scared of her father because he beat her and accussed Tom Robinson of doing it. During the trial about the incident she testifies that Tom raped and beat her and then ran off.

Tom Robinson

Tom Robinson Is a colored man who would walk by the Ewells house on the way to work at Mr. Link Deas house. Tom didn't do anything but help her, and Mayella was the one who approached him and kisses him. Mr. Ewell came home and threatened Mayella and beat her himself. Tom is accused of this and put on trial and is named "guilty' by the jury.
