About John and Samuel

When John left for the Potomac Valley

Samuel lived in the tree all alone; he could only depend on himself.

John and Samuel were british soldiers. They served at the British Garrison at Fort Pitt during the French and Indian war.

When john returned, He brought back ammunition and many men.

Without permission they left Fort Pitt in 1761.

In the end, Samuel settled permanently along the Buckhannon River and John chose to travel to Kentucky to settle.

They came across an old hollowed out sycamore tree and decided that's where they would live in it.

About the tree

The tree was big enough to have two beds and a stone fireplace.

John and Samuel would use animal skins to cover up the holes in the tree to keep out the winter cold.

John and Samuel lived isolated life's living in the tree.
