The movie stars that feature in these three horror movies are not in a great deal of other films or TV shows, apart from Daniel Radcliffe who used to play the iconic part of Harry Potter. Seeing the actress or actor for the first time is a good way to judge their acting and not compare it. personally, the stars in TDI were the best.
The plot for the three films were all moderately realistic; Insidious was the least as it contained another world in which demons live and using the child's mind as a gateway which was fairly unrealistic. I think that the plot for WIB and TDI are equally as realistic as each other; they were well written; WIB was personally the easiest to understand as it was a classic ghost story.
The editing and graphics of the three films are all of exceptional level; in this day and age, the cinematography is at an outstanding level and can pretty much create anything. The favorite thing for TDI would be performing the exorcism; uncovering the body which is crumpled up. This would of taken extraordinary work as the woman was moving and living rather than being a dummy. For WIB the best graphics and editing part would be the dead child covered in mud rising from the floor; slowly covering everything in mud as it rose. Finally, for Insidious; this film, personally has the best editing and graphics as it creates a whole world full of demons which effectively makes a version of hell. Sadly, we cannot adopt these great ideas as we will not have access to the specialist equipment that professionals use.
Firstly, the style of these three horror films are all psychological and jumpy, this style is what we want in our movie, which is why they were chosen; they play on your mind and contain minimal gore.
The music of Insidious is the most tense in a personal view; the jumpy drum beats and sudden violin notes. Although The Woman In Black (WIB) is scary, the long drawn out high pitched notes got kind of annoying after a while. The Devil Inside (TDI) has music which contains a lot of screams and whispers also adds a sense of reality but holds the stereotypical music of being screamy.
The first of the three trailers that I will choose for analysis will be insidious. This is a popular horror movie which has new camera shots and psychological concepts which scare the viewers in new ways.
The second choice of horror movie that i will be choosing is The Devil Inside. This movie was chosen because of the amount of reality and depth that the film has which made it so believable.
The last and final choice for the horror movie trio is The Woman In Black, the main reason why it was chosen was because it was the scariest film I have ever watched. ever.
Within these three trailers, they have taken the modern approach to narrating the trailer which is having lines of text between cuts and scenes for the views to read themselves. This gives a sense of interactivity to the trailer and the music of silence is more scary than an overenthusiastic american voiceover which really spoils the these atmosphere.
Our group plan to use a combination of increasing the speed of cuts and cross cuts and the texts on the screen for views to read, this will help build the tension and will make the trailer look modern.

The reason why our group has come up with these prop ideas is because the trailer has to look as realistic as possible; therefore the weapon choices for killing have to be something that is common and everyone has so that the audience think it can happen to anyone. This theme is similar to the one of the Final Destination films in which characters die in ways which could happen anywhere any time.
The main features that we will be adopting in creating our own horror movie trailer will be the music of TDI, the suspense of WIB, and the cinematography of Insidious; it has a different approach of scaring people. It will involve watching the films over and over again to note all of the features that will be used. I like the idea of there being one character; especially as it will be easier to film; if there was a group of people, it would be harder to coordinate. In terms of mise-en-scene, it all depends of the time era; what they are wearing, the objects and atmosphere around them. For our film, i think it will be in the 21st century.
Themes that will be evident in the trailer will be jumpy shots that are popular from WIB (Woman in Black) especially scenes which you have to look and discover the ghost in the background rather than it just being there.
The music will add to this also, however, most of the music that we will be using will perhaps be from The Devil Inside.
Adding to the mise en scene aspect of our trailer; the time era has been established already, but here are some props that will be used within the trailer:
