  • Tepeu and Gucumatz's myth helped Mayans understand the start to the Earth, explained the unexplainable
  • Their representation of humans was that they needed perfect humans and they didn't settle for any humans until the humans created with corn
  • Mayans were an agriculture society and Mayans believed that corn was life
  • Then Men made from corn were to smart so Tepeu and Gucumatz had to take some of them out
  • This represents the Mayan people because they were proven to be one of the most advanced societies in ancient World and now their society is no longer

  • After creating the Eath they realized they needed 'beings' to look after their creation and also praise their name
  • created animals, but they could not speak to them and praise them
  • created a race of men out of wet clay, but they fell apart
  • created them out of wood, but their wood was meaningless
  • Animals brought Tepeu and Gucumatz white corn, and they grounded it up into a paste which created the new men
  • These men were perfect, except they knew and saw more than they should, so Tepeu and Gucumatz took away some of their vision. It was because of this men had little understanding of the world.
