How to Get Rid of Stink bugs
(Halyomorpha halys)
- Seal holes in exterior walls larger than the diameter of a pencil.
- Seal gaps and cracks around doors and window frames
- Install door sweeps
- Ensure doors and windows are tight fitted
- Check screen exterior attic openings/vents
- If you find them in your home you can remove them with a vacuum cleaner, or sweep them up with a broom
Effect on Ecosystems
Stink bugs are a nuisance to gardens and farms, because they suck the juice out of fruits and vegetables. This causes farmers to throw away valuable fruits and vegetables. Not all stink bugs have a negative effect, some will eat harmful insects. They do not have a major effect on the areas native species.

Stink bugs are native to Eastern Asia, especially tropical parts of China. Stink bugs were introduced to eastern PA, but now spread across the entire state. They were accidentally introduced to PA in 1996, it is believed this happened by them hitching rides in packing crates.
