6th Amendment
20th and 22nd
I combined the 5th and 7th amendment because they both have to deal with the courts. Laws need to be established to govern the courts, without this, cecks and balances would not be effective. It establishes due process rights and reserves individuals rights to jury a trail.
The first amendment outlines the rights for all Untied States citizens that abide by the law. Freedom of speech, press, religion and right to a speedy trail. It also protects the right to petition the U.S. government and the right to bare arms. Citizens can also reject improper search and seizure without a warrant. This amendment is important because it outlines the rights that people hold, the rights government cannot strip away. These amendments go well together because all of them have to do with the people's rights.
Powers that aren't granted to national gov and are not prohibited from the states belong solely to the state government. This amendment details separation of federal government and state government, without this there would be an immense power struggle between the two. The 10th amendment couldn't be combined with other amendments but it is still important in the process of delegating powers.
This amendment gives the government the right to tax income. Taxation is one of the many ways the government can pay to run their programs, without proper taxes, things would be difficult. No other Amendment deals with taxation so I left this one alone.
This amendment determines when election terms begin and how many terms a president can be in office (2 terms)
This keeps there from being a ruling monarch, keeping power flowing from person to person smoothly. I combined these two amendments because they both had to do with presidential terms.
This amendment establishes who will become successor to the president. This outlines the guidelines for a president that might be stepping into office without much notice. This amendment is important although it does not fit with the others, we need to know what to do in case some bad happens to the president.
This is the punishment amendment, it forbids bails, fines and punishments that are cruel and unusual. It also forbids forced slavery and involuntary servitude except when applied as punishment for criminal offense. The whole point of this amendment is to outline what people should expect when they commit a crime.
This amendment prevents a state from being sued because of immigrants or people from outside the state
This keeps state and national government separate and makes sure the state doesnt have to deal with people out of its control
11th Amendment
My New Addition
This amendment outlines all voting rights and restrictions. Anyone can vote as long as theyre 18. Race nor gender should determine whether an individual can vote. There are no pole taxes or literacy tests permitted
This is important because in order to have a democracy, there needs to be a proper and fair voting system
This amendment is in regards to education. The price of college is too high and high achieving students should be able to go to state institutions with reduced tuition or free. This amendment will reduce college debt considerably and make students more motivated to pursue higher education.
