Leadership

A string of terrorist attacks take place during Clinton's presidency. These events foreshadowed 9/11.

Efforts to keep not just the US, but the world in harmony causes Bill Clinton to take action.

11/5/1996- President Clinton is the first

Democratic President since Franklin D.

Roosevelt to win a second term. He wins over his opponent, Bob Dole, by 49%. Dole recieved 41% of the total votes.

Based on my research, I believe that William Bill Clinton was a strong leader. I believe this because in his presidency, 6,000,000 new jobs were created in the first two years. By 1994, the economy witnessed its lowest unemployment and inflation rate in 25 years. He fought crime and restored our communities by passing bills like the Crime Bill and Brady Bill that added more police officers and strictly regulated gun obtaining procedures. President Clinton also strengthened families and opportunities by implementing laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act and making education a priority. Lastly, through all the controversy and scandal, Bill Clinton was able to do his job as President, regardless of what was taking place in his personal life. He was able to rise above a situation and admit his mistakes. That takes a strong person, especially if that person is continually being scrutinized by millions of people. And his leadership still plays a role in our lives as he works alongside the current president.

12/19/1998 - The House votes to impeach, or remove President Clinton for obstruction of justice and perjury, or lying under oath, for the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Republicans wanted him out and believed they were taking a stand for "morality and integrity," while Democrats believed that impeachment was meant for leaders that abused their power. The Senate acquitted, or dropped the charges, against Clinton on February 12, 1999. Bill Clinton later apologized to the nation. He was the second president to be impeached by The House.
