Why He's Important?

Philip Henry Sheridan was important because he took actions when some people couldn't, he was also important for the battle at yellow stone. He took commands that helped but at the same time he made commands that were fearful and harsh.

Philip Sheridan was apart of the Union Army

1.Philip Sheridan won an important victory

at Petersburg that halted "Robert E. Lee's

retreat from Richmond and helped the war come to an end.

2.In the Battle of Stones River Philip Sheridan and the Union Army won the battle and became Philip Sheridan's rise to military fame

3.In the Battle of Trevilian Station Philip Sheridan fought hard to say in touch with Hunter's army in the valley but the Confederates stop that by happening and defeated the Union,This was one of the bloodiest cavalry battles of the war

4.Philip Sheridan and the Union Army defeated the Confederates at The Third Battle of Winchester, and the Union started controlling the substantial operations in the Shenandoah Valley.

After the war, Sheridan took the protection of Yellowstone as his personal crusade.At the age of 57 ,Sheridan had his first heart attack and he died of heart failure in August of 1888 in Dartmouth,Massuchusets.

He is buried close to Washington D.C

in the Arlington cemetry.

To this day there are memorials for Philip Sheridan, like Philip Sheridan Elementary school, and the Equastrain Statue
