At the age of three I met my best friend. We met because her family moved in across the street from our house. Our relationship is special not only because we've known each other for so long, but because we also have the same day of birth and are the same age. Our day of birth is May 3, 1993, throughout the years we have had our differences but at the end of the day I consider her the sister I never had.

Being a student the internet has became a very valuable part of my life. Many teachers put assignments on the internet, or they have you submit your assignments on the internet, or they use it as a way of communication. You can use it to give you instructions to help you find destination you are looking for. The internet is also good for fun things like communicating with friends, online shopping, playing games, looking up news stories, and listening to music.

Sports

Neighborhood

In High School I was active in Softball and Volleyball. I learned about health from both of these sports, some experiences good and some bad. I learned how to workout and stay in shape from playing these two sports. I also learned that girls should not be pushed to lift weights like the coaches pushed us, my back is forever changed from weight lifting and not in a good way. I also made some great friendships and memories from my teams.

Growing up in a middle class family, we never experienced living from meal to meal, and almost always having whatever we needed. In my childhood neighborhood I learned about those kids that are less fortunate, we lived right next to a duplex. Many of the families that moved in and out had kids our age. My mom or my friends mom would offer these kids snacks because they would always say they were hungry, their parents were never home so they spent many afternoons/nights roaming the neighborhood. As I look back now, I am blessed to experience this since I was not exposed to people like this in my grade school.

The Arts

My family has always had a thing for history, when we travel we like to visit the museums of which ever city we are in at the time. Some of the museums we have visited are the Smithsonian, New Mexico History Museum, Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. One of the museums i have yet to visit but would like to see someday would be the Holacaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., i think this would be intetersting because my family is of german ethnicity.

Community

My home town is Great Bend, KS. I would consider Great Bend an average size town in rural kansas, it is a good place to raise a family. Most of the economy in Great Bend is based off of farming and the production of oil. These two things help provide jobs for much of the community.

House of Worship

At a young age I was baptized into the catholic church. My parents attended church with me and my brother every Saturday evening since we were babies. My parents and grandparents taught us about being active members in the chruch. As kids we served as alter help, my dad would serve as a reader, and as a family we would take up the gifts. I believe my upbringing in this church and values I gained will be something I can pass onto my children someday.

Print Media

For print media I would say my favorite magazine would have to be seventeen. Growing up in the middle of Kansas I feel like this magazine is actually relatable for girls my age. The feature cute outfits that come from stores at malls near our town unlike vogue, which features top of the line fashion. I also enjoy reading the funny stories they feature in the back. Another source of print media I like to read is the newspaper, even though it is dying out I enjoy seeing the top news stories of the local community, and the ever so interesting On The Record.

School

Technology

I attended a catholic grade school, from this school I learned about my religion. Each day involved some type of our faith. On Tuesday's and Thursdays we attended church service, Monday and Wednesdays a religion lesson was taught, and on Fridays we would say a rosary.

Without technology life would be alot more difficult. My favorite piece of technology would probably be my labtop , it is useful for doing homework and many other things. Another useful thing I love that came from technology would be my car. I cannot imagine life without a car, it helps us get from one geographical location to another, and allows us to go about anywhere in short amount of time.

Family

Workplace

At the moment I do not have a job, but my former job was at the Medicine Shoppe, a pharmacy. I loved my job and the people I worked with. At my job I encountered many people with a laugage barrier, mostly hispanic. It was difficult trying to communicate with them, some knew very little english. We only had a translator one day a week, so we had to use the internet translator and type notes up for them as a way of communication.

My family is my backbone. Without them my life would be incomplete. They are there to encourage me when times get difficult, and they are there to support me when I accomplish something. My parents are Sheryl and Craig, and I have an 18 year old brother, Adam. My parents have taught me about social class. My parents are very hard workers, and have always provided my brother and I with the best life possible. They both were the first in their families to attend college, and from attending college they were able to live their dreams out in middle class society. They taught me it is not where you came from, but it is what you want to create for yourself.
