Technological Tools Used For Space Exploration

By: Sankari , Farhan & Zohayr

What are Space Exploration Tools ?

  • Tools used to discover and interact with new objects

Key Words

  • Telescopes
  • Spacesuits
  • Spacecraft
  • The HST
  • Orbits
  • Observe
  • Life Support Systems
  • Space Probes
  • Robotics

Telescopes

The Hubble Space Telescope

  • The HST was launched in 1990
  • The 4 main instruments see ultraviolet , visible, and infrared spectra
  • This telescope takes HD quality images

Spacesuits

Parts Of A Spacesuit

  • Hard Upper Torso ( Chest )
  • The Arm Assembly ( Covers arms and connect to the gloves )
  • The Helmet & Extravehicular Visor Assembly ( Head )
  • Lower Torso Assembly ( Legs & Feet )
  • Liquid Cooler & Ventilation Garment ( Under The Spacesuit )
  • Primary LSS ( Back Of The Spacesuit )

Spacecraft

Orbiters

Life Support Systems

Space Probes

Space Vision System

Canadarm

The Canadarm Diorama

  • Protects astronaut from climate
  • Gives oxygen to breathe
  • Holds in water to drink when thirsty
  • The gold visors help keep space dust out of the eyes
  • Protects astronauts from flying objects in space

The Fun Facts

Did you know that the HST telescope was named after Edwin Hubble ?

Did you know that a spacesuit has a mass of

21 kilograms ? Also, the standard cost of a spacesuit is USD 12,000,000.

Did you know that space dust is faster than a bullet ? This fast dust could really injure someone.

Space is so cool

Did you know that without an LSS , the astronaut will not survive in space ?

Did you know that Guelph is the common known

place for asteroids to hit ?

Did you know that a spacecraft needs to be driving 28,000 km per hour to remain in orbit ?

Did you know that Galileo was the first person to use a telescope to investigate more about space ?

A spacecraft is a vehicle designed to travel in space. Spacecraft is used for a variety of purposes .

Did you know that the space probe " Pioneer 10 " flew out in space and never came back since it was launched ?

Did you know that after 30 years, the " Canadarm was still in good condition even after they have wrapped it up ?

Boom !

  • These machines help us discover more about the planets
  • It gives info about our: atmosphere, landforms, internal structure etc
  • These machines give us warnings about asteroids ( large rocks ) ahead of time

In conclusion we state that there are many tools which helps man kind progress in the exploration of space.

  • This is a group of devices working together to keep an astronaut alive
  • This device must supply: food & water
  • This also has to deal with pressure & waste products
  • This is a diorama model of the telescope
  • We chose this as our diorama because the telescope helped Galileo Galilei discover more about the night sky and our planets
  • The Canadarm was a remote - controlled robotic arm
  • This is also known as Shuttle Remote Manipular System ( SRMS )
  • This robotic arm: repaired satellites, positioned astronauts, maintained equipment etc.
  • The space vision system is a system that is used to do repair tasks on the ISS
  • Difficult for astronauts to see because of dark light
  • A probe is a spacecraft that travels through space to collect space data
  • These devices don't require astronauts
  • Probes send the data back to Mission Control
