Sara Blakely-Spanx

By:Alyssa Guenther

Mentors?

Sara Blakely wanted to be just like her dad. Her original plan was to become an attorney, but an unsuccessful Law School Admission Test performance caused her to reconsider. Also Richard Branson acted as a mentor to Blakely. He helped her learn about business and how it works.

Legacy

Important?

Spanx will most likely be around for a long time. There are already different color, sizes, and styles of spanx, and I'm sure more designs will be put out. Women will continue buy the product.

Sara Blakely would be consider important because first off she is a women worth 1 billion dollars. More men are worth more than women are. Also she is a philanthropist. In 2006, Blakely launched the Sara Blakely Foundation to help women through education and entrepreneurial training. In 2013 Blakely became the first female billionaire to join the "Giving Pledge"

What I learned

Quotes

I learned that a simple idea can turn into a really big thing. Even if it might not work when it first starts out. Also that it is okay not to know everything at first. Making mistakes are apart of life and you should always try your hardest to succeed.

"Don't let what you don't know scare you, because it can become your greatest asset. And if you do things without knowing how they have always been done, you're guaranteed to do them differently."

"It's important to be willing to make mistakes. The worst thing that can happen is you become memorable."

"You've got to embrace what you don't know."
