Second Normal Form
- Any attribute in our entities that is not functionally dependent on all parts of the primary key is moved into a new entity.
Functional dependency means that the primary key attribute uniquely determines other attributes in the entity.
Third Normal Form
- Any attribute that is not entirely functionally dependent on the primary key is moved into a new entity.
This is essentially the same as second normal form, except it is concerned with entities that have a single field primary key.

First Normal Form
- All attributes contain only atomic values.
- All repeated groups of data are removed and put into new entities.
- These entities are linked together through one-to-many relationships by including a primary key from one entity as a foreign key in another entity.
