The participation stage is the next stage up in the continuum. This is where your progression becomes greater. You will start to become more competitive in the sport and determined in your activity. You are participating in that sport regulary and you start to develop your socialising skills and fitness levels.
An example of someone in the participation stage would be going to after school clubs for footbal lor you might join a football team that may play in a league on saturdays.
The excellence stage is the last and top of the continuum. This is where it will become intense and very hard working. People in the excellence stage show commitment and hard work. This is where the sportsperson will reach national level, playing for their country. Sports at elite level mainly have rewards which will motivate the individual and they are winning medals e.g gold medal and being given money.
An example of someone in the elite level would be Mo Farah he trains hard and he has won countless gold medals for Great Britain.
Joining a football club can be a big step for you in your sporting career because you will meet new people learn new skills and ways and hope to take some good experience out with you. You build communication and confidence whilst joining and you are becoming a independant learner and a role model for younger ones to look up to.
In the foundation stage you are starting out a new journey in a sporting industry. Here you will learn basic skills and drills of the sport, you will also learn communication skills and have a better understanding of whats around you ready for progressing to the next stage. When in the foundation stage you are a beginner, you do not know any of the rules and the sport you play isnt competitive. A PE lesson can be shown to be part of the foundation stage because it is a fun activity. Practising your catching in PE for basketbal lcan be shown to be in the foundation stage. It is also aimed and younger years rather than older.
In the performance stage you will see that the training you do is more stricter and it will seem to become more competitive. You will also realise that fitness is key at this level and you will worker and train harder. This aminly aims at people who want to improve their skills further. They will also show commitment to be able to perfect their skill. An example of this would be joining a regional rugby team and playing in a regional league.
