If we examine the red grape cultivation, we find Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot but they are all just the main component of rosé wines because red wines aren’t typical at this region.

White Wine

Nowadays in white grape cultivation, chardonnay, Müller-Thargau, Irsai Olivér, Tramini and Ottonel Muskotály are general but Sauvignon Blanc also started to extend.

Soil

Brown forest soil developed on loess basis is dominant, but there are also rendzina soils developed on chalk and dolomite, as well as forest soils evolved on the basis of sandstone, marl and sand.

Taste

Wines at this region are generally dry, with high acid content, it gives them a reductive character.

Neszmélyi wine region

The second half of the 19th century saw the development of the famous model vineyard and cellars of the Esterházi Csákvári Manor, which enhanced the reputation of the region. During the past decade the modernization of grape production has resulted in a substantial improvement of the quality of the wine produced, and a rise in the ranking of the wine region.

It is a wine region with great traditions, dating back to the Middle Ages. From the 18th century, cultivation on large estates, along with the wine-making activities of the peasant farmers gave the wines of the region a strong reputation.

Neszmélyi wine region is at the eastern part of Dunántúl. It received the wine region title in 1977 and its area is 1432 hectares.

Climate

The area is characterised by modest fluctuations in temperature, which are milder than those experienced in the wine region of the Great Plain. Humidity is relatively high. The intensity and the frequency of the late spring and early autumn frosts are both low. The annual average precipitation is medium.
