Early Life

  • Born on January 3, 1946
  • Grew up with an alcholic father who beat and sodomized his mother and sister
  • When 16, Phillip attacked his own 14 year old sister
  • He put a rope around her neck and through her onto the bed: he had an erection and said, "I'm going to get some of that off of you"
  • He began to cry, he then stopped and his dad beat him
  • Met Jane Sanders in November 1968 after McGowan had left him
  • He raped Sanders on the first date, which she did not repoort
  • She became pregnant; they moved to CA in July 1969 after he left the military
  • While having sex one time, Sanders wanted to stop: He pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot her if she did not continue
  • He then hit her with the butt of the gun and she passed out
  • As she regaind conscioiuness, he was still having sex with her
  • She left him in 1972
  • Joined the military after high school and was sent overseas
  • He met his first wife, Alice McGowan in high school, where they later became married in 1968 once he returned to Texas from his time overseas
  • He started to become very violent especially sexually
  • During sex, he put a pillow over her face and attempted to suffocate her

California's Death Row Killer

  • In February 1977, he meets Linda Kimball and by August they begin living together
  • She gave birth to their daughter in December 1977
  • One evening, Kimball's mother Isobel Pahls, awakens Linda because Jablonski had come in to rape her but didn't go through with it since "all he could see was Linda's face"
  • Pahls escaped to a neighbors house
  • Kimball then left Jablonski with their child a few days later to also join her mother at there neighbors
  • On July 16, Jablonski killed Kimball when she returned to the apartment in order to pick up more baby things

Jablonski served 12 years in prison for his first murder and was realeased in 1990

His Third Killing

"The letter is dated March 26, 2012 and includes correspondence with a penpal in which he talks about health problems. -- and then near the end... he goes off about a possible cold case file of a murder that he did in El Paso years before any of his other convictions"

  • Meets Carol Spadoni and marries in 1982; after answering a newspaper ad placed while he was in prison
  • April 23, 1991- Murders Carol and Eva Peterson (mother) at their home in Burlingame
  • He shoots Spadoni and suffocates her with duct tape, then stabs her
  • He then sexually assaulted Peterson and shot her
  • On April 22, 1991, Jablonski is charged with the death of Fathyma Vann in Indio, CA
  • She was a fellow student at the local community college
  • He also attended there to satisfy his conditions of parole
  • Fathyma- a recently widowed mother of 2 teenage girls was found shot in the head and sexually assualted
  • Found lying naked in a shallow ditch in the Indio desert: had the words "I Love Jesus" carved on her back
  • Also had her eyes and ears removed

In January of 2006, the California Supreme Court upheld Phillip Carl Jablonski's death sentence on appeal

  • On April 27, 1991- He was also charged with the robbery and subsequent murder of Margie Rogers
  • Took place in Grand County, Utah
  • Captured the following day in Kansas
  • Found guilty of all murders and sentenced to death
