Questions & Concerns
Where are the missing animals? --> Companion animal invisibility in EM&D
Lack of effective or efficient communication
Lack of pet-friendly temporary housing
Provincial and RMWB officials had little knowledge of qualified rescue orgs
Alberta SPCA imposed June 30th deadline
Difficulty getting animals back to Fort Mac
No plan to deal with scope of volunteer management and logistics
Next time: Need a plan that includes companion animals
Early Findings
Provincial plan should follow or be closely modeled after Incident Command System (ICS)
Required: Cultural shift in E&DM
Any plan must consider and attend to the role of women's unpaid labour within the context of economic globalization.
