The affect of color on memory retention

aRE NUMBERS MEMORIZED BETTER WRITTEN IN COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE?

because colored patterns and images catch

attention more and they would be more

likely to be remembered rather than an

image or pattern that is in black and white.

Background information:

Memory is one of the brains core processes and has to do

with how the brain remembers and stores information.

some psychologists have even found that colored photos

enhance a persons ability to remember details that are in a

photo better than if it was just in black and white. memory

very important because it helps you to remember important

thing like how to get places and how to do different things.

qUESTION:

Materials:

1. two index cards

2. a black pen or marker

3. different colored pens or markers

4. a timer or clock

5. somewhere to record your results

procedure:

- get a plain white note card.

- on one of the note cards write, with a black

pen, a row of ten numbers.

- on the second note card write a row of ten

numbers with different colors.

- test people by giving them one of the tests

them study it for twenty seconds. then have

them write it on a separate sheet of paper. do

that for both of the tests.

-record the results.

Hypothesis:

We think that color can help people remember information better
