In addition to our excellent economy, Delaware also has an awesome government. Delaware was a colony that was given to William Penn by the English Parliament. Being a proprietary colony means that Delaware is self-governed. It is also ruled by a monarch/president. Being a self-governed colony means that you can set up your own rules following basic guidelines. Having a self-government means that the government does not interfere with what you are doing unless you break the colony guidelines. Some people say that some of Delaware's presidents weren't good. Nonetheless, most of Delaware's leaders were very good. One example is John Dickinson. He helped us enhance Delaware's reputation, which in return boosted our economy and population. Even though, there are some downfalls to Delaware's government, the good always wins over the bad.
We invite you to Delaware where there are vast fields of crops and cattle ranges. Delaware is a breadbasket colony which means that the colony produces a large amount of crops for consumption and for profit. Our farms are 50-150 acres (18,000-56,000 sq. ft.)! Having huge farms means that we can produce more crops and we don't have to worry about food. Most of our crops are sold, so we have plenty of money that is used for improving colony life. Some may say that the farms take up too much space and there is no land for building. However, Delawareans depend on the farms for food. The residents don't have to worry about land because Delaware has 2,490 sq. mi. (1,593,600 acres)!
