How and Why might prison conditions vary around the World?

- Depends on if you live in a developed or developing country

- Developed countries like Canada are able to provide their inmates with basic human needs

- In many prisons in developing countries like Rwanda, they are unable to provide their inmates with the resources they need

- It also varies depending on how much the government is spending on correctional facilities

- In Canada, the taxpayers are the ones’ that keep the criminals in jail

- In many developing countries the prisons do not have a lot of funds

How may these changes be alleviated, if at all?

- Some challenges cannot be alleviated because developing countries cannot afford them

- However, we can provide rehabilitation programs to the inmates

- Provide them with a job to give them a sense of responsibility

- Provide a basic education

- Providing even one medical care practitioner would make a huge difference
