Pick a topic that interests you and write a paragraph using at least three different sentence patterns! Then illustrate!
Students will as a class sort sentences on the Smart Board into DECLARATIVE, IMPERATIVE, INTERROGATIVE, EXCLAMATORY.
Students will then label whether or not the sentence is SIMPLE, COMPOUND, or COMPLEX.
Students will review the sheet with a partner and discuss what they notice is specific to each type of sentence.

As a class students will read aloud their sentences and decide what order the sentences should go in to create an INTERESTING PARAGRAPH.
In groups students will use dry erase sentence strips to write a sentence using the structure determined by the teacher on a topic determined by the class.
