While serving 21 years for the House of State Representatives, 14 years in the United States House of Representatives, and 5 years on the Washington State highway Commission, Hansen was also an advocate for education. In her lifetime. She forged with Pearl Wanamaker to accomplish many things such as improving situations and minimum wage for teachers, nursery schools and kindergarten, school lunch programs and summer camps. We should remember Hansen because of her commitment to our education system, without her, we would have gross, sloppy lunches and teachers would be getting payed a small amount for the huge amount of work they do. Clearly, our education system matters and impacts not only the teachers but the students.
