Even though Atlantic Canada is low in population and has a weak economy, they possess a proud culture that combines a mix of unique, tradition-oriented people. People is other regions claim that Atlantic Canada is quaint and interesting. However, the term "Maritime" is used to exclude Newfoundland because it has a different culture and identity from the other provinces.

Flipper pie originated in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is made out of seal fin meat, veggies, and potatoes. This dish is usually made on the Easter weekend. This pie was created in the 18th century when hunters would use all the parts of the seal, but could not make a profit off of the flippers. So they decided to create a new dish with the flippers.

A Persian is an oval-shaped, cinnamon-bun-like sweet roll with icing made of either raspberries or strawberries. It originated in Thunder bay, Ontario. It is the Canadian take on a traditional cinnamon bun.

This region includes Newfoundland and larbador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and part of Quebec (the Gaspe peninsula). There are lots of mountains, highlands, plains, and lowlands in these areas. The main industries that are in this region are forestry, mining, and fishing. Forestry and fishing dates back to the first settlers that chose to live there, and mining can produce many resources. These resources include iron, gold, copper, lead, cole, etc.

Central Canada

In Canada's territories, 1 in 5 households have to skip meals because they cannot afford it. This has drastic health consequences for northerners. Hunger and food insecurity are experienced all over the north. This is particularly true among First Nations, Metis, and Unit population, who are transitioning from a subsistence (using the bare minimum)to a market/mixed economy. Also, the cost of food in the north is extremely high.

Due to their high populations, Ontario and Quebec have held a significant amount of political power. This has led to resentment from the other regions. They think that it is unfair and that they do not deserve all that.

The food and nutrition sector is and industry that contributes to the economic growth of Quebec. Its numerous research and training centers have made the city area a nexus for innovation for the food and nutrition sector. This encourages the growth of businesses in the functional food industry (health food industry).

Central Canada contains the countries two largest provinces, Ontario and Quebec. They form the Canadian shield that gives the country its distinctive shape. Both provinces have many lakes and rivers which are surrounded by wetland that are inhabited by iconic Canadian animals (moose, beaver, etc). Most residents of the region live in what is known as the Great Lakes- St. Lawrence Lowlands area, a stretch of low elevation and fertile farmlands. This is very good for agriculture and farming.

Northern Canada

Nanaimo Bars originated in Nanaimo, British Columbia. They are bar desserts that consist of three layers: a wafer and coconut layer on the bottom, Custard flavored butter icing in the middle, and a layer of chocolate ganache on top. The popularity of the bar led local residents to mobolize it to have it voted "Canada's Favorite Confection" in a National Post reader survey.

Newfoundland and Labrador has the weakest food performance among all the provinces. They received "D"s on three of the five categories of the food report card. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and P.E.I all also recieved "D" grades on food safety due to high food-borne illnesses. P.E.I also lags most of it provincial peers on food security.

Western Canada feels inferior compared to the economic, political, and cultural power of Ontario and Quebec. They are unhappy that they get very little control of the federal government. They think it is unfair that those provinces have more seats because of their populations.

In the bagel world there is a big difference between the New York bagel and the Montreal style bagel. The Montreal-style is much sweeter than the New york one. This is because they are dipped in boiling water which has honey or malt in it. They are also denser and are traditionally made in wood fire ovens.

The north is a very large area. Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories take up approximately 40% of Canada's land. Biologists divide the north into two different biomes, the boreal forest, and the tundra. The population that occupied this area was never large, but the peoples skills as hunters and travelers made it possible for them to use almost all the land without altering the environment. This was an indigenous society.

Today the population of the north is just under 120,000 people. The cold climate and general isolation of the region makes it an unpopular place to live, work, and visit. This has caused difficulties for the people that were born there. Negative statistics (crime, domestic violence, drugs, etc.) are higher in the north than anywhere else in Canada, to the point where the region is often excluded from national statistics in order to avoid them ruining the average.

Corn and soybeans are major crops in Quebec and Ontario. They also have specials crops including greenhouse, floriculture (the cultivation of flowers), and nursery products. Fruits and vegetables are also largely concentrated. This is good for them because they can sell their food to other regions.

Relations between Quebec and the rest of Canada is often termed to the two solitudes, meaning two parts of Canada that don't really communicate amongst themselves very well, but could understand if they tried. Although Quebec is different from the rest of Canada, they are more different from France. The French spoken in Quebec is much different than in France.

Caribou is one of the staple ingredients in Nunavut cooking. Its classified as country food, or food from the land. It is also one of the only truly wild meats. This dish is usually served with bannok (a deep fried bread or dough).

All four western provinces have active and diverse agricultural industries. B.C. accounts for the majority of fruit produced in Western Canada and the highest aquaculture production. Alberta also has the largest provincial share of cattle ranches and farms in the country. Agriculture production has been an important part of the economy in the West for a long time. However, urbanization, technological advances, globalization, and growth in other resource industries has decreased agriculture's share of total GDP's and employment over the last few decades.

Western Canada consists of British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. It covers almost 29% of Canada's land mass, making it the seventh largest land mass in the world. Approximatley 11.1 million people call western Canada home. The majority of the population live in urban areas that are dominated by our cities. This region has benefited the economy by supporting the creation of industry clusters in sectors such as mining, forestry, oil and gas, and agriculture.

Quebec is Canada's largest province. Most of it is covered by the Canadian shield, a rocky, but generally level landscape of plains and plateaus, covered by large forests and lakes. Their land is very good for agriculture and farming.
