Parang is aqquainted with the season 'Christmastime'- the last week of November to the 'Day of Kings' which is January 6th.

Musical Instruments include; guitar, cuatro, maracas, chac chac, mandolin, bandolin, violin, bandola, cello, tok tok, claves, tambourine and box bass.

Origins

Custom was introduced from Spain during the Spanish occupation of Trinidad (1498-1797). Venezuela also contributed to Parang music as there was constant interchange between the people of Trinidad and Venezuela.

'Parang' is the everyday term for parranda, the spanish word meaning spree, or carousel or a group of people who go out at night singing to the accompaniment of musical instruments.
