American education during 1970

  • Well equipped rooms would have desks, blackboard, books, globe, artwork, piano.
  • Elementary and high schools had open classrooms, which were when the teacher would give an activity to the students and they wouldn't boss them but coach and assist them through it.
  • By the early 1970s the phrase "open classrooms" was known by everyone (in that time open schools were a big thing)

Roles/Curriculum of Teachers (New Acts & Laws)

  • In 1970s, teachers received a textbook for almost every subject. They also had freedom to select additional materials.
  • Classroom technology were record players, a film projector, a typewriter and an overhead projector.
  • According to the state regulations, students were tested in 1970s. The data was simply used a reference material for administrators, educator, and parents.

  • She is a child activist, she helped improve the education for disabled children and other children.
  • Founder of children defense fund (Leave no child behind)
  • Which helped Every child have a fair, safe, moral start in education, even if they were disabled.

  • The United States suffered an economic recession in 1970
  • In 1971 the supreme court ordered the joining of two school districts in Texas and one that was spanish and others mainly English
  • That allowed spanish kids in bilingual education (ESOL)
  • A lot of acts were passed to have equal education for all
