Goals should be specific and easily understood. What you are going to do?

Measurable

Goals should have concrete criteria for measuring progress. What data will you use to measure your progress toward your goal?

Goals should be action-oriented. What actions are you going to take to accomplish your goal?

Realistic

Goals should be worth working toward and attainable. How do you know that it is reasonable for you to be able to accomplish your goal?

  • A short-term goal is something you want to do in the near future.

  • A long-term goal is something you want to do further in the future.

Timely

Goals should be achieved within a specific time frame. When is your deadline for accomplishing your goal?

  • The near future can mean today, this week, this month, or even this year.
  • Long-term goals require time and planning. They are not something you can do this week or even this year.
  • A short-term goal is something you want to accomplish soon.
  • Long-term goals usually take 12 months or more to achieve.
