My Recommendation

Don't Stay Up Late is an amazing book for more than just one reason. One of the said reasons is because the author, R.L. Stine, is able to add a great sense of suspense to the book. Not only that, but he also adds horror and mystery to the novel. Unlike most books, Don't Stay Up Late was able to hook me within the very first chapter. From that point on, I could barely put it down. The kind of people that would like this book are people that like a horror theme and the idea that things go bump in the night. R.L. Stine's writing style is a very unique one that makes the reader feel like they are actually inside the book. While reading Don't Stay Up Late, I was constantly held in suspense and fear of what was going to happen next and what Lisa was going to do as her friends kept dying. As I was reading this book, I felt as though something was watching me from the shadows. Overall, I would highly recommend Don't Stay Up Late.

Favorite Paragraph

"He shot a hand out and wrapped it around my wrist. 'My name is Sam,' he repeated, tightening his grip until his fingers dug into my skin. 'Will you be my friend? Will you? We can stay up late together.' "

This is, personally, one of my favorite

paragraphs in Don't Stay Up Late because

it leaves the reader wanting more. In most

books, the authors always try to wrap

everything up in the end, however, when it

comes to R. L. Stine, he almost always finishes his books off with a cliffhanger. When the reader reads this short segment thousands of questions

instantly pop into their head and it leaves

them intrigued.
