BHANGRA

Bhangra is a Punjab style of dance. Bhangra was originally a folk style of dance that celebrated the harvest.

To dance in the style of Bhangra you need to dance with 'passion and relaxed muscles'.

Bhangra is now danced in many countries. In the UK we celebrate Bhangra with many competitions, the biggest being 'BHANGRA SHOWDOWN'. Winners of the competition have gone onto work with artists such as Diversity, Led Zepelin and the rapper Omarion as well as doing music videos and TV apperences.

  • To know the four elements of dance.
  • To understand what an action is and practically show this knowledge in a choreography task.
  • To have a basic knowledge of Bhangra dance and be able to display this knowledge practically.
