Legend has it that Wan-Hu was the first person to make an attempt to travel to space. He attached 47 rockets to a chair and launched himself into orbit. Unfortunately no one saw him again. Joesph Kittinger was the first official astronaut. He went up into space in a helium balloon and found out that he wouldn't be able to come down so he jumped with a parachute. After falling for four minutes, his body ended up breaking the sound barrier. Neil Armstrong was the first successful astronaut to enter space, land on the moon and make it back. He was from the U.S.A. Chris Hadfield is one of the most recent Canadians to be in space. He is the first person ever to create a music video in space. He also made youtube videos on how things are different in space. Ham was the first chimp in space. He was launched in a capsule and unfortunately landed in the ocean.

Fun Facts on space
*Closest star to us is Alpha Centauri.
*If you were to put Saturn in water it would float.
*Our planet is moving at 530 kilometers a second.
*The moon is drifting away from earth.
*The light that we can see right now is thirty thousand years old.
*Uranus used to be called Georges star.
*If two pieces of metal touch in space thay are permanently stuck together.
*The big dipper is not a constellation its an Asterism.
Protective Technology in Space
One of the main pieces of protective technology
is the spacesuit. Spacesuits have many special parts including jet packs, air tanks and use radios to communicate. Another piece of technology that we use to protect us in space are space shuttles. Some of the space shuttles features is the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and the rockets that move it and launch it. A space shuttle also has heaters, pressurizers and coolers to match the temperature to the atmosphere. One of the last types of technology used to protect us in space, are space stations. Some of the features of the space stations are bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and the airlock room. It takes a combination of these pieces of technology to survive in space.

Dangers of living in space
There are many dangers to living in space including not meeting your basic needs and getting hit by a meteor. Another danger of living in space is aliens. Most people think that aliens are big headed green guys but they can be anything from space as long as it is living than it is a alien. One of the dangers of living in space is not be able to move in the zero gravity and getting lost.
Transportation and vehicles used in space
http://library.thinkquest.org/03oct/02144/text/travel/needs.htm
The main piece of transportation used in space is a space shuttle . Another type of transportation is a rocket ship. Rocket ships contain rockets, fins, fuel, guidance system and a nose cone. The main vehicle used to explore planets are lunar rovers. Lunar rovers contain a rocket-bogie, mobility system, navcam, front havcam, solar arrays and rover equipment deck. Lunar rovers are used to capture images and video of different planets. They also pick up rock samplings from the planet they're on.

Limitations to Space Exploration
Plants And Animals That Can Survive In Space
One of the main limitations to exploring is that space meets none of our basic needs. Space has no water unless you find a planet with it. Food is the most hard to find if you run out you can only live for three weeks if properly hydrated. Another limitation is the zero gravity, if your in space for to long your bones and muscles become weak and when you come back to earth you may be crushed. Space also doesnt have oxygen so if your spacesuit rips during a space walk you will die quickly even with oxygen tanks. One of the last limitations to exploring space is how expensive it is. A space shuttle can cost millions and the launch can be even more. It is amazing that even with all of these limitations we can still send explorers to explore space.
Space is a strange thing it meets none of our basic needs but some things can live without it. One of the only things that can survive in space is a bacteria called Deincoccus raidiodurans. When it is on earth it eats our nucler waste. The first rocket ever launched with a living thing in it was a rocket called Sputnik 1. It had flies in it and was launched in 1947. Luckily the flies made it back alive. If a plant is launched into space for a long time and stays inside of a space station and gets water and sunlight. The plant will actually grow up all wonky but grow faster. Spiders can spin a web in space even without gravity. the webs are all messed up but they still can be used.
