BIO
Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born on the 30th of November, 1835 in Hannibal, Missouri.
A majority of his siblings did not live through childhood, and the father died of pneumonia in 1846.
In his teenage years, Samuel made his way through several major cities; earning what he needed to live as a printer.
In these cities he trawled through the vast libraries and generally attributed a majority of his education to the hours spent reading.
In his travels Samuel frequented steamboats and eventually ended up as a pilot until the start of the American Civil War.
After a failed attempt at mining, Samuel found a position with a Virginia City newspaper.
During this period Samuel gathered inspiration for Roughing It and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.
