The United States Constitution went into effect on March, 1789.
And twenty-seven amendments have been added since then.
So we can say that the 27 amendments started in 1789. However, the first ten amendments were ratified simultaneously and are known collectively as the Bill of Rights.
The 27 amendments are constitutional amendments approved by Congress and sent to the states for ratification.
The eleventh amendment was added in 1793 and removed federal jurisdiction in cases where citizens wanted to sue another state. Amendments 12 written by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, 17, 20, 22, 25, and 27 where added later to the constitution.
There are different purposes, as they were ratified not at the same time.
As I said before, the most famous of the 27 amendments to the Constitution are the first ten, known as the Bill of Rights which went into effect December 15, 1791. They protect natural rights, such as freedom of religion, speech, and the right to assemble. The other ones were added later, however, the purpose for these ones is to detail the steps the citizens have to follow to prevent
Amendments 14, 13 and 15 were adopted after the Civil War (1861-1865) and they are referred to as the "Reconstruction Amendments,"

Amendments 18 and 21 were called "Prohibition".
The amendments 19, 23, 24, and 26 and 27 guaranteed voting rights, the Universal suffrage, specially for women,
