As war waged on in the Pacific, scientists in the U.S. constructed the first ever atomic bombs to end the war against the Japanese. The first bomb (Little Boy) was dropped onto the Japanese city Hiroshima, after multiple U.S. threats to the Japanese to stand down were sent to no success. The bombs devastated Japan and forced them to surrender.

In a secret meeting, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill discussed terms for after World War II was finished. It guaranteed free trade and the right for people to choose whatever government they want after WW2's end.

As Allied forces advanced into Berlin, Germany unleashed a final counter-attack to try and break the line of Allied units and tilt the assault in Germany's favor again. While the German blitzkreig was successful in creating a large bulge in the rows of Allied soldiers, it ended up failing; the Allies kept making their way forward at a steady pace.

Not long after the first nuclear bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, the second bomb (Fat Man) was dropped upon Nagasaki. This further devastated Japan and forced it to surrender after the public completely lost interest in the Japanese military, due to the massive and unnecessary loss of life that the armies brought them.

Erwin Rommel (nicknamed Desert Fox) was the military leader of the Axis assault of Northern Africa. When his forces were driven out of North Africa, the Allies opened up an easy path from North Africa to Sicily, which led directly into Italy. This allows the Allies in North Africa to strike Italy from below and travel up Italy into Southern Germany.
At last, the Allied Powers respond to German aggression with force (or, at least, a threatening stance against Germany). This marks the official beginning of the Second World War in Europe.
Adolf Hitler, seeing no progress, turns away from the assault on Britain towards the Eastern Front to betray Russia. Unbeknownst to him, the Allies in Western Europe rejoice with the knowledge that Hitler's conquest can be stopped and a counterattack can take place.
The Rome-Berlin Axis is very troubling for the Allies and democratic nations, as two prominent Fascist nations (which are both steadily rising in power) form an alliance in light of any impending war.

Some time after World War Two had ended, Communism was at an all-time high, led by the USSR and spreading fast in Eastern Europe. In resistance to this, the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, and other democratic nations met to found NATO, which would allow any member to respond to any other member's invasion with hostile force against the invading organization. This would be one of the events officially beginning the Cold War.

This was the first sign of aggression from the Pacific. This is also the first time Japan disobeys the League of Nations.
Italy, due to its alliance with Germany and their many ideological parallels, declares war on France and Britain so it can side with Germany on the battlefield. The Allied Powers enacting war on Germany made the Axis Powers swiftly retaliate.
Hitler used Jews and other "inferior" members of Germany as scapegoats for German losses in WWI. They were originally put into ghettos or simply discriminated against, until Hitler devised a plan to rid of them all through organized extermination and genocide, which he begun working on shortly after his plan became widely accepted by the Nazi Party.
This was one of the first Japan-U.S. conflicts in WWII, and the very first air-sea battle in history. The Japanese invaded the Coral Sea, but the U.S. navy successfully defended against it, leading to an Allied victory.

After the insurmountable string of defeats in France, the Allied soldiers are pushed back to the beaches of Dunkirk. However, a massive fleet of British ships arrives to carry the soldiers to safety in England, acting as a beacon of hope for the Allies as they stand on their last legs.

The London Blitz was a time in which Hitler attempted to terrify the British into submission by dropping countless bombs from the German air force into British cities. However, Britain still stood resolute, patient for its next attack, leaving Hitler no choice but to withdraw to focus on other threats.

Due to the threat of Hitler annexing Czechoslovakia into Germany, the Allied and Axis nations propose Germany annexing only the Sudetenland portion of Czechoslovakia and cutting Hitler some slack.
Germany, having great success in Western Europe, invades the USSR through the access of Eastern Europe. Betrayal of Stalin, however, would soon lead to another war on two fronts for Germany as West Europe recovers.

The Battle of Stalingrad begun with Nazi Germany trying to invade Stalingrad on their way to Berlin and other major USSR cities. This marked the end of World War Two in the Pacific, and in the world.
