-There is no chance to get away because it is a fairly small island

-The Year without Summer

-There is nothing that can be done to survive

-Precautions: Get off the island

First Eruption: In 1812, Mt. Tambora entered a period of high activity, which late resulted in the eruption of 1815.

-the most famous eruption in history, and was recorded as a VEI-7 event

-For three years straight, was preceded by steaming and phreatic eruptions

-It lowered global temperatures, and some people think it lead global cooling or a Year without Summer

Details: 7 p.m.- three columns of flames rose into the sky, and it turned to what looked like liquid fire

-8 p.m.-10 p.m.: ash rained down

Impact: Killed 71,000 people.
