Monks: Devil

A sickly, vicious young man, prone to violent fits and teeming with inexplicable hatred. Monks offers Fagin money in return that he makes commit a crime and lose his large money inheritance from his dead parent.

The name “Twist, ”foreshadows the fortune that he will experience. Rose Maylie’s name echoes her association with flowers and springtime, youth and beauty. Toby Crackit’s name is a reference to his chosen profession of breaking into houses. Mr. Bumble’s name refers to his bumbling arrogance; Mrs. Mann’s, her lack of maternal instinct

The meeting on London Bridge represents the collision of two worlds unlikely ever to come into contact—the picturesque, wealthy world of Brownlow and Rose, and the atmosphere of impurity and grime in which Nancy lives. On the bridge, Nancy is given the chance to cross over to the better way of life that the others represent, but she rejects that opportunity, and by the time the three have all left the bridge that possibility has vanished forever

Rags to riches:

Oliver Twist goes from being a

poor orphan in the beginning to running away and becoming part of a gang, to earning a large inheritance and being adopted by a wealthy man.

Oliver Twist for most of the book is

known as the outcast. He was an outcast at the orphanage for disobeying the rules and asking for more porridge, as well as when he was the only innocent person amongst the gang of thieves he lived with.

Oliver's last name "Twist" is a foreshadow of the turn of events of what is going to happen to him. He is mentioned numerous times about the portrait of Agnes Fleming (his mother).

Dealing with her own issues, and you don't know what side she is on. Nancy meets Oliver when he joins Fagin's gang. She helps Oliver and will do anything to keep him alive and safe, however she is dealing with her pimp and lover, Sikes, who leads her to commit crime and involve Oliver is some of it. She protects Oliver at the cost of her own life.
