PORTSMOUTH

LONDON

Our host families were in Portsmouth so we lived there for a week. Portsmouth is a beautiful port city, it's also a island city. We went shopping in Gunwharf Quays. It is a big outlet with 90 outlet stores and 30 restaurants. The last day we went to the port were is situated the HMS Victory. It was the Nelson's ship. The statue of Nelson is in Trafalgar Square (London) that is situated in direction of Portsmouth, where there's his ship.

BRIGHTON

The second day we went to London. It wasn't our first time there, but we were so excited!

In the morning we took a very long walking by the shores of the Thames. We saw San Paul's Cathedral,we crossed the Millenium Bridge, and then we arrived at the London Eye. We stopped for a while to have time to take photos, then we crossed Westminster Bridge arriving at the Big Ben. We also saw Westminster Abbey, Downing street, and we finally arrived at Trafalgar Square. There we had some time to have lunch and, after a speech of the teacher Jade we walked to Buckingham Palace, where we took a huge group photo. The last stop was at Piccadilly Circus, where we had like 2 hours of free time to go shopping. Finally we came back to Portsmouth and had a deserved dinner!

For Emily and I wasn't the first time in Brighton. I had already been there last summer with a friend. We visited it in the afternoon. When we arrived, we went to see the Royal Pavilion. Nicole told us that it is a royal residence. It was built in 1787. Out we can see an arabic and indian style but inside is chinese. After, we went in the centre of Brighton were Georgia told us that we had 2 hours of free time, and the meeting point was the restaurant on the Pier were we had dinner, fish and chips! It has been a fanstastic day.

OUR TRIP

By Giorgia & Emily

WINCHESTER

We visited Winchester, an amazing small town. We went inside the Great Hall, where a girl told us about Winchester Castle, King Arthur and Round Table. There were some clothes and someone of us tried them on,it was really funny! Then we went to Winchester Cathedral where we had to answer a few questions about it. It was a nice way to work together and discover many curiosities. The teachers gave us our free time: we went shopping and we took our coffee at Starbucks,as always. Even if it was small, I really loved this city because I believe it's a place where you can spend time with friends walking in the main street.

CHICHESTER

On friday we went to the very little town of Chichester. The first thing we visited was the beautiful gothic cathedral. The teacher Georgia took a speech and then we entered. It was amazing with a long nave and lot of colourful stained glasses. After the visit we had free time to go shopping or,as me and Giorgia did, to take a coffee at Starbucks. There were only 2 main streets in the town, but personally I enjoyed that afternoon a lot, especially because I was with my friends.

ICE COLLEGE

We studied in "Ice College". We stayed there for 4 hours a day. We had lessons about grammar, vocabulary and conversation. All the lessons were very interesting. Our teachers were Georgia, Nicole and Jade. They were very friendly and fun. They also went with us in outings in the afternoon.

Nicole also took Emily and I at home every night and she took us to the College every morning.

THE FAMILY

One thing of which we were very anxious for was the family, because we didn't know what to expect. The first impression wasn's very good...nobody of 6 people came to met us except from the mother,Sara. The day after we talked about this to the organisator of the trip and, that evening, the family was very kind and friendly with us. We met Saul, the younger of the children:he was 7 and so,so cute!!We also met

Ben who was the eldest and he was 18 and

red-haired. With the father Simon we took

the dog Dotty out and we had a conversation

of like 1 hour!We discovered curiosities about

the city and the 70s and it was very interesting.

In the days later we met the other 2 children,

Mia,who was 10,and Marley,who was 12. They were

bothred-haired and pretty. The last day we absolutely didn't

want to leave them because they were really good people and

they made us stay very well that week. We hope to see them again one day...
