Oliver Cromwell was a very powerful member of Parliament. He was born on 25 April 1599 and he was an English military and political leader. After the execution of King Charles, he became power hungry, thinking that he could take over the country, and could rule even though he had no divine right. He later became the Lord Protector of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Yes he was a bad ruler because he abolished Parliament, and we need Parliament to help control taxes, debate issues, and well make our country a better country! His troops also murdered everyone in Drogheda and Wexford. He murdered men, women and children, all innocent people when they did not do anything wrong. He was also involved in the execution of a monarch. He was not a good leader like our King Charles. He was leader and he was a far better leader than Cromwell .
In conclusion, Oliver Cromwell was not as good of a leader as people say he was. Some of his political view's just weren't right, and in all honestly, he would never have King Charles' courage, or the right to be King. He didn't believe the Catholics beliefs like Charles did, and wasn't their type of leader.
Oliver was hated by some because he was the one who over all decided to put King Charles on trial. He was later also the one who decided that the King should be executed. The loyal supporters of the King wouldn't stand for Cromwell's hardship towards the King, and in return, they wouldn't agree to his terms or political views. In their eyes, he was not as good of a leader as Charles, and he never would be.
