This chapter is important to the book because it builds on the way that the reader will see Scout, because it shows that Scout doesn't want to me a regular Maycomb women. Also in this chapter you can see that Atticus also wants to change Scout because he was the one who called Aunt Alexandra.
In chapter 13 Aunt Alexandra comes to stay at Scouts home in Maycomb. Aunt Alexandra came because Atticus called her to come because he felt that Scout needed a feminine influence. Aunt Alexandra is trying to mold Scout more like an average Maycomb women. Which Scout does not like.
While Aunt Alexandra is staying Scout tries her best to avoid seeing her, because she doesn't agree with being forced to change what type of lady she becomes.
