Stationary Front (Continued.)

The weather it produces is normally partly cloudy, unless their is a very large amount of moisture in the air, which will cause significant amounts of rain over a long period of time. The symbol for a stationary front is a mix between a warm and cold front. With one side being a red line with circles, and the other being blue with triangles.

A Stationary Front

Is an air front where both cold and warm fronts collide and neither one moves becoming stationary. When it eventually dissipates it will turn to either a warm or cold front. The temperature more or less stays the same on both sides of it, with more mild temperature near the middle.

An Occluded Front

Is when 2 air masses of cooler air collide and push the less dense warmer air upwards blocking it off from the ground. This makes the temperature near the ground cooler, and causes light to heavy rain while occurring with neither being that severe. The symbol for an occluded front is a purple line with triangles and circles.

What is a front

A front is the boundary between 2 air masses of varying characteristics
