'Gaps' are used to refer to words or

usages that arent currently used in English,

such as

the word 'pep' however USA used this

word in the 20th century for

an abbreviation

upon 'pepper'

Language is said to be untranslatable, as every language has words that cant be translated into our own language

In Russian there is no word to translate for 'shallow' so instead

you have to say 'not so deep'

English has no plural for the

word 'you'

When there is no word in the language you are speaking, for the concept you are looking for.

Different dialects need words that other languages don't need
