Period 1
The Multiplane camera was used in many Disney movies because , at the moment , it was a very advanced type of way to make the movies they were making. Many machines that were like this were created , including one before it that was made in 1926 and was used in a movie called "The Adventures of Prince Ahmed" so in a way this can't be considered as the first machine like it .
Q: When was the product Invented?
A: Mid 1930's although a type of multiplane camera was used in the late 1920's
Q: Who Invented this Product?
A: Bill Garity
Q: List any existing Patents
A: Patent Number 2,201,689
Q:What Materials were originally used to make this product?
A: Drawings being placed in front of a camera that is supported by wood. The drawings are also in layers in a metal frame.
Q: How was the Product originally made?
A: Stacked planes of glass each painted with different elements of a cell animation.
Q: What improvements have been made to the product ?
A: It wasn't really improved since the computer came in and the Multi-Plane camera was forgotten because it wasn't as advanced.
Q: Why were these improvements made?
A: Improvements weren't made because it was simple and seemed like it was the best that it would be.
Q: Who uses the Product?
A: Walt Disney, Disney Movies used the product.
Q: What is the global impact of the invention and other inventions?
A: It helped make 2-D animations look better and led the way to 3-D animations.
Q: If you could change the product how would you change it?
A: We would make it smaller, more efficient, and find a way to make it create 3-D animations.
Timeline of Multi-Plane Camera

The Mulitplane camera was basically a camera that took picture of many different images at the same time, these images were just stacked planes of glass that had different elements of a cell animation. Walt Disney held the patent of this and was only used by the Disney movies. Throughout this inventions lifespan , not much had really changed since it was a simple invention , not much could have been changed. This had a huge impact on society and even the whole world since this showed us what movies could look like if we would add a little bit of new technology to it , and it also could have been seen as leading way to even more advanced technology in the movie making business.
Engineering used to make Product
Visual engineering was used in this since the whole product made all of the movies that it was used in look better then they would have been without it. This was essential since you need visuals for the whole movie and making them better could make the whole movie better in the long run.
